A groundbreaking 12-week pilot program, BackTrack’s Night Crew, has led to a significant reduction in youth crime in Armidale, including a significant decline in stolen vehicles, break-ins, and other related offences.

This pilot program has been driven by BackTrack emerging leaders who have been through our programs, in consultation with Armidale Neighbourhood Watch, Local Council, and NSW Police.

Responding to a rise in night-time crime, the Night Crew program actively engaged and diverted at-risk young people during critical overnight hours. They've been addressing immediate needs, including transport to prevent bail breaches, meals, clothing and mentorship to divert younger kids from destructive behaviours and crime. While funding has dried up, BackTrack is continuing the program with philanthropic support for as long as is possible in order to maintain the momentum of this successful program and we remain hopeful that the NSW Government will continue to fund this successful community led solution to youth crime in our region.
